Tony & Christine Arcus

We have been in YWAM off and on since the 80s.

We have several things we see that God wants us to focus on.

To Train Trainers.

Working in the LETS department of the Kona Campus, we have long believed that we don’t just train people; we train trainers.

He is Risen.

The central truth of the Resurrection of Jesus from the grave is the impetus of everything we do.

Thrive.

Equipping,
Strengthening,
Supporting.

Collaborate.

Bringing people and their ideas together, and helping them to achieve their goals.

God’s Team

God is not on our side.
But we can be on God’s side.

Who’s team are you on?
Your own team or God’s?

Often, we start on our team, we learn that that is not where we are meant to be, we switch to God’s team, and then, unfortunately, we convert God’s team into our team and wonder where God has gone.

How do we move from being on our team to God’s team?
How do we keep ourselves on God’s team?
What are the telltale signs that I might be trying to convert God’s team into my team?
And if I find myself having converted God’s team to my team and God seems vacant, how can I get back onto God’s team?

Christmas 2024

Kona to Manila.
Manila to Cebu & Surigao.
We got to help a number of people and bases with their Technology and Website needs.

From a conference in Manila to one in Tauranga, I think we have our quota.

Come in and see what else has been happening for us.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

December 2024

Thank you for such a good time in the Philippines over September and October.

From YWAM Together in Manila at the beginning of September, we then traveled down to Cebu and Surigao and then back to Manila at the end of October.

We got to work with many of you to see what you are doing, but more importantly, to see why you do what you do, to hear your vision, and see where you think Jesus is taking you.

Managing a Website

Managing a website is not a part-time job; it is a focused job.

Just like someone in charge of the sponsorship program, accounts/admin, the kitchen, or a feeding program, making a website work is a 20-hour-a-week job.

Yesterday

Yesterday was not a good day. You may have noticed that yesterday morning, your website was not working. October 17th. Overnight, a virus, hacker, or payload package went off. My server was classified as compromised by Google, and it was suspended. When I got up in...

An online seminar

Do you have new staff?
Do you have friends you want to introduce to YWAM?
Do you want to run an online bible study?

To whom much has been given…

To whom much has been given.

Luke 12:42

A first read of these words of Jesus gives a rather harsh look into His thinking.

Or does it?

For one thing, this was a time of slaves and flogging. There was no HR department to complain to, no employment tribunal, and no police to call on to enforce laws of conduct. Even the courts were less than sympathetic if you were ways down the food chain.

A master was a position of huge power. And a steward was often a slave.

Yes much is required of us, but that which is required is going to come out of the much we have already been given.

When you are a sleep.

Let your website work for you, even when you are asleep.
Make a schedule of emails and training and get them sent automatically.

In this example, you can subscribe to a new list I created of the 18 Values of YWAM.
You will get an email each day with the next value.
You can unsubscribe at any time.

The will of God

The will of God is impossible to miss.
God is not so distant that you can not see Him.
God does not speak so quietly that you can not hear Him.
God is not so busy that He forgets you.
You are His delight.

Bad Ideas, Part 1

Have you had any bad ideas recently?

Bad Ideas, Part 1.

We have a natural aversion to self-examination of events in our lives that go wrong, backfire, or cause us to come to grief.

It is because our egos get in the way, because of the shame or frustration we feel when things go wrong, and also because of the simple lie and idea that exists in our world that says, “I shouldn’t fail.”

We moved again.

At the end of August we moved out of the Yurt, which has been a most interesting experience.

We then left Kona for the Philippines and the YWAM conference.

September & October saw us in Manila, Cebu, Surigao, and back to Manila.

Training

Training comes in many forms. One form is actively spending time with people and training them in using technology, be it Websites, Google, or Workplace, our primary tool on campus for communication for the last few years.

Then there is https://learn.ywam.life

Gardening

We work with the Natural Farm here in Kona. This is part of the training arm of Youth With A Mission.

Training

Students come to the farm for a number of different reasons.

We do have a school that normally runs from April to June each year.

Multiplication

An area we work in is to help other grow what they are doing.

One way to facilitate this is that we help develop websites for people and ministries.

Small Space Gradening

Anyone can garden, from a window planter with some cilantro and chives to potatoes in four tires.

Plants as Medicine

Cultivate a couple of aloe vera plants for those times you get sun burnt, or some lemon grass to keep mosquitos away.

Aquaponics

When we first arrived in Kona, we were working with Aquaponics, from planting seeds to harvesting produce for the Campus Cafeteria.

Fermented Goodness

Christine has spent time teaching students the goodness of Kombocha. Something we drink every day.

Life Empowering Technology & Science

We split our time around a number of different commitments, both on Campus and out in the Kona community.

LETS, or Life Empowering Technology & Science keeps us busy in a number of different capacities. From the website, https://letskona.com, to record keeping, Christine sewing all sorts of projects.

Kona

Being involved in technology means that I also spend time working out in the Kona Business community, upgrading Restaurants networks for a new installation, wiring out and programming smart homes, and even from time to time repairing homes.

Get your hands dirty

One of the reasons why we came to Hawaii was to get in to 12 months a year gardening.

That is is warm is also an advantage.

With our children and grand children (I don’t mean you Kat, I just mean in general) being so absorbed by screen we need to help to get them out in to the big blue room and get some good soil on their hands.

We have this interesting intersection between growing good food, and technology.
