About Us

We are very fortunate to have Jonathan living in Kona and working on the campus with us.

2024

We started the year back in Kona.

Soon after returning, YWAM internationally announced its first conference since COVID-19 in Manila in September.

This resonated with us, as we wanted to get back to the Philippines and had attended the first International Conference in 1988 in Manila.

We sort to set up times with locations in the Philippines that we had previously been helping, but were unable to tie down anything concret.

Conference

The conference was good to catch up with people, and feel the heart beat for Youth With a Mission, specially as Darlene Cunningham was there.

She and Lauren founded Youth with a Mission back in 1960.

Lauren went to be with the Lord last year.

We truely have a new generation stepping up in to leadership and finding Gods vision for the future.

Q4

After the conference, we spent time with several YWAM bases, training staff to develop their base websites.

We are also working with staff on their digital footprint.

We are helping them integrate what they are already doing and generate a website for the purpose of reaching the groups they already minister to in the flesh.

After the Philippines, we will spend time in Malaysia, Singapore, and New Zealand.

2025

We are planning on returning to Kona in 2025. We have many things we could be involved with, but we want to make sure we tackle what God wants us to do.

During our time in the Philippines, we often talked with staff about the idea that NO is an acceptable answer if you are being asked to do a thing, or if you are asking someone to help you with a thing. The idea we were seeking to communicate was that Jesus asks us to live our lives with Yes, Yes and No, No. Too often, we answer Maybe. Or we get volun-told.

If we get pushed or even manipulated to do something or take on another load, this is a sure road to resentment. Leadership needs to know this, even if they themselves are overloaded.

Another idea we work to is that God has given us enough hours every day to do everything He has for us to do.

So, we talked about how to ask for help but always give the other person permission to say no. I then stated that if we do this, then when the person says yes, it will be a very good yes.

We have currently been in Kona Hawaii for the last 8 year.

Tony

Sedd-el-Bahr, Hinikura, Martinborough, New Zealand.

This is the farm I grew up on.
Around 2-3,000 sheep, and some 200 beef cows.

My grandfather started the farm in about 1920 after returning from WWI.

It is named Sedd-el-Bahr, “in sight of the sea,” after the area in Turkey where my grandfather recovered from wounds received in the campaign of Gallipoli.
