What do we really need to do?
Christine and I need your prayers.
Prayer
But not as some quantitive accumulation of good vibes so we can achieve the things we want to do.
Prayer is about us becoming aligned with God’s will.
The more we know God, learn who He is and how He works, then pray about what God already wants, the more we will see answers to prayers.
Then there is declarational prayer, God does say Ask, Seek, Knock, however, beware of the prayer of King Hezekiah, he got his prayer answered and it was not a good outcome. Rather try to push something forward which is aligned with God.
Hezekiah
Then of course there is the selfish prayer, not aligned with God at all. In the story King Hezekiah, (2 Kings, chapters 18-20) he did many great things in prayer and in God, however when he fell sick, he was told he would die, he prayed to live. God relented and healed him and give him 15 more years. Three years later Manasseh was born. At twelve, when King Hezekiah died, he became King and see what happened. (2 Kings 21)
We are to move away from the last. No selfish prayers. We are to learn how to Ask, Seek and Knock with humility and surrender, and most of all become aligned with God’s will. What has He already said, what does He already want, and know we have a good Father, He gives what we like, what we want, and what we need.
Answers
As you pray for us, what does God say He wants?
What are you currently doing that causes you to work with God? What are you currently doing that puts you in God’s way? I have worked on a building site, where through no fault of mine, I got in another worker’s way and made their job harder. When I became skilled in my work I no longer got in their way. What skills are you not learning, don’t even know you need to learn that is causing you to get in God’s ways, in the way of others?
Prayer and a teachable spirit means we can be taught, and learn how to work with God and others and not against them.
Let's Pray
Father, how can we better use this website we are building for your purposes? What can we do to partner with people that see what we do and want to help us to do what we do? How do we communicate with all sorts of different people? From Germans to Africans, to Australians to Americans. They all see things differently. How can we bring your message to our website so teams want to come, and having come how can we help teams to continue to participate in Your Kingdone and Your work once they have gone back home?
What do I need to learn to be a better communicator? And what special things can you show me to take pictures of, write about, and make videos of that will glorify you and encourage people, both here and overseas?
Thank you Father that you will lead us and that we can be taught.
What did God say?
Such is the nature of prayer. It’s a two-way conversation. And so is our joint discipleship.
